This film is a modern take on the age-old problem called the `generation gap`. Despite both the men in the title roles going by the same name, it isn`t easy for this grandfather and grandson duo to get along. It becomes even more challenging as they are meeting each other after three decades. They share nothing else in common but the name. They are forced by circumstances to be together for a few months. Will they succeed or succumb to the divide? In a sometimes funny, sometimes factual, sometimes preachy and for a little while irritating way, they do get along. You do want happy endings in family dramas and comedies right?

The story is simple enough. The junior Thimayya, Vincy has fallen on bad times and his best chances are to get hitched to his fiancée and fly off to Lisbon. Before that he needs to dispose of a few properties including a café his father used to run. The senior Thimayya, his grandfather is yet to come out of the shock of his son’s death. He would rather have the cafe reopened and run it. Only one of them can have his way. Who will win forms the subtle comic narrative director Sharma serves the audience.

In the meantime, Jr Thimayya`s fiancee Sowmya (Shubra Aiyappa) takes part in a few scenes and a duet and flies off. To fill the female position, enter Jyotsana (Aindrita) , a widowed neighbor who becomes the glue between the two Thimayyas. Shubra`s role is more like a model, she walks through the scenes and vanishes. Real life pair of Diganth and Aindrita need chemicals from the lab to spice up the screen with their presence. They are instantly reactive in each other’s presence.

Anant Nag gets to play a nagging grandpa which he does with the most wicked and child-like promptness. Prakash Thuminad and Vineet Kumar get meaty roles that add spice to the story. Visually, the film captures scenes in all their fresh beauty. The music is okay and does its task. The film is like a comfort food you enjoy eagerly. While the grandpa and grandson try to regain their love for each other, you might want to pause it and play again. But you don`t have a remote in the theatres.
